As technology and information-access continue to expand, workplaces have become more culturally diverse than ever before, and collaborating across global business environments is vital to foster organizational competitiveness and success. In response, English is transitioning from a culture-specific language into a crucial intercultural communication conduit that involves communicating with multiple cultures at the same time (both in and out of the workplace). We call this Intercultural English—a communication tool rather than a national version of any language; and this tool is used much in the same way as mathematics or computer literacy in facilitating normal and crucial business processes.
