Global Collaborative Business Environments

As technology and information-access continue to expand, workplaces have become more culturally diverse than ever before, and collaborating across global business environments is vital to organizational competitiveness and success. In response, English is transitioning from a culture-specific language into a crucial intercultural communication conduit that involves communicating with multiple cultures at the same time (both in and out of the workplace). We call this Intercultural English—a communication tool rather than a national version of any language, and this tool is used much in the same way as mathematics or computer literacy in facilitating normal business processes.

The GSL® AccentClarity™ in English course provides a deeper level of skill development: helping participants build speech clarity when using Intercultural English to enable collaboration among native and non-native speakers in today’s multicultural workplace.

AccentClarity™ in English — Introductory Module

Business professionals need excellent communication skills to thrive in today’s global economy. With non-native English speakers outnumbering native English speakers by 3 to 1, speech clarity is an essential element of effective workplace communication and collaboration. Unfortunately, some non-native speakers acquired English proficiency in an environment in which oral skills were not taught effectively. Consequently, their ability to transmit their ideas and expertise is impeded by the comprehensibility of their speech.

In this highly-interactive course, you will learn to:

  • Use thought grouping and appropriate pausing to convey confidence and deliver information in a measured and comprehensible manner
  • Emphasize important information by stressing key words
  • Apply intonation to clarification questions to accurately communicate your level of certainty
  • More...

In contrast, accent clarity improves communication among colleagues with diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds, providing opportunities for enhancing productivity and accelerating professional growth.

In this highly-interactive course, you will learn to:

  • Use stress to emphasize important information
